Supported items include 6 months of author support by default (extendable up to 12 months); unsupported items include no author support at all. Either way, you'll know exactly what's included before you purchase an item on ThemeForest or CodeCanyon.
The Item Support Policy clearly defines what's included with every item, so you can make an informed decision about which option is right for you.
What am I entitled to either way — supported or unsupported?
Regardless of whether an item includes support, you can always expect:
- Free access to updates — if the author releases one, all previous buyers can download it at no cost.
- The ability to report bugs.
- A working item — authors are expected to keep items functioning as described and protected against major security issues.
What does "Supported" include?
- 6 months of support comes standard with every supported item, including those purchased with an Extended License.
- Extend to 12 months at checkout — tick "extend support to 12 months" when purchasing to add another 6 months upfront.
- Maximum of 12 months of valid support at any given time.
- Running low on support? If you have less than 6 months remaining and the author still supports the item, you can purchase a support extension or renewal.
- Support cost is a percentage of the item price, based on when you purchase it.
What does "Not Supported" mean?
- No author support is included or available for these items.
- No extensions or renewals can be purchased, since support was never part of the offering.
- No discount applies — unsupported items aren't sold at a lower price because support is excluded.
For full detail on what's included with every ThemeForest and CodeCanyon item, see the Item Support Policy.
Before contacting an author for help, check the item's documentation and its Support/Comments tab — your issue may already have a solution posted there.
