Depending on your purchase and payment method, you may receive a receipt, an invoice, or a credit note. Here's what each document means and when you'll get one.
What is a receipt?
A receipt is generated whenever you pay via PayPal or credit card for a "Buy Now" purchase.
Note: Invoices are only issued specifically when you purchase an item — not for every transaction type.
What is an invoice, and when will I receive one?
An invoice is generated whenever you purchase an item license on Envato Market. As the buyer, you'll typically receive:
- An invoice from the author for the item license.
- An invoice from Envato for the buyer fee.
- An invoice from Envato for the handling fee, if your order is subject to one.

What is a credit note, and when will I receive one?
A credit note is issued to confirm the cancellation of a previously generated invoice — typically when a transaction is reversed. As the buyer, you may receive:
- A credit note for the item license, if refunded.
- A credit note from Envato for a refunded buyer fee.
- A credit note from Envato for a refunded handling fee, if your order is eligible.
Where can I find tax information for my purchases?
- EU VAT: See our EU VAT overview or the VAT information for buyers article.
- US sales tax: See our US sales tax information for buyers.
- AU GST: See our AU GST information for buyers article.

Past purchases (before Feb 1, 2015): No new invoices will be issued for item licenses, handling fees, or buyer fees from this period. However, you can still view all past transactions on your statement. See our guide on how to view and download invoices for the full steps.
